British Turks and Caicos Islands
Are you looking for an exciting romantic adventure? Check out the British Turks and Caicos Islands. These islands are truly amazing. They're nestled in the Caribbean; however, they are often over-looked. If you're considering a trip to Jamaica, for example, check out these British Islands. In 2004 Jamaica had some 1.5 million tourists while the Turks and Caicos Islands had a whopping 170,000 visitors. You have a lot more room to "spread your wings". If you're one who wants beaches full of people, motorized sports boats maneuvering around bays and endless resorts then these islands are not for you. What we found were the islands offer solitude. They lack in providing the many amenities that other Caribbean Island resorts offer, such as, para-sailing and water skiing. The real beauty about the Turks and Caicos Islands are the wild life sanctuaries. There are some 40 islands scattered throughout this British Colony. Of those 40 there are only 8 that have inhabitants. The remaining are a reserve for wild life. And you can easily catch a boat to visit one of these natural wonders. Where To Stay... Check out the Amanyara Resort. I was especially impressed with the "Natural" approach the Amanyara utilizes. It sort of blends in with the natural surroundings. There are also other options too, the Parrot Cay on a 1000 acre private island. It's about a 1/2 hour boat ride from the airport area. How To Get There... The British Islands are located 575 miles southeast of Miami. You can fly-out of Miami and 1 1/2 hours later you'll land at the International Airport of Providenciales, also known as Provo. You can visit our Travel Network for easy flight connections to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Is It Worth It...? We find the Turks and Caicos Islands a little on the expensive side; however, it's a time you'll never forget. The beaches are white sand and seem endless. The real beauty is getting off the main islands and heading out to the wild life sanctuaries. I personally like exploring and these uninhabited islands. They remind me of the Galapagos Islands. There's wildlife everywhere. Also, the islands are home to the third largest reef. Here's another place to explore a part of nature's "Best". I also like snorkeling and love exploring the colorful fish amongst the coral. All in all, we highly recommend a visit to this natural wonderland. It's hard to say how long this group of islands will stay below the "radar scope". The current plan is to build more resorts and open the doors to the British Turks and Caicos Islands. When that happens, this group of islands will compete with the other nearby Caribbean Islands. To beat the future rush of visitors head over to this British Colony.
