San Juan Islands...
A Place For Romance

The San Juan Islands, located in the most Northwestern portion of Washington State, are consider the "Banana Belt Region" of Washington. These beautiful islands are situated in a unique "rain shadow" giving the islands a mild climate year-round perfect luxury romantic vacation.



These lush islands are the remnants of the last ice-age, carved strategically for our benefit. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean waters, yet protected by the mainland and surrounding Canadian Islands, these nestled islands will literally breathe life into you. The beauty and splendor is spectacular!

The San Juan Islands are a conglomerate of some 172 - 700 islands. Why the discrepancy? It depends on what you may call an island, a rock?...a reef? Nevertheless, there's some 200 named "islands" yet there only a few inhabitable and only four with a sizeable population - San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw. These islands have access by ferry boat. There's approximately another 30 islands with a very small population and scattered homes. These islands are only accessible by private boat, seaplane or if the island is equipped with a small landing strip, then a light aircraft is a means of transportation.

Recreation is a highlight throughout the San Juan Islands. You have several options to choose from; a ginger bicycle ride, scuba diving amongst the scallop beds or watching the giant Killer Whales. For the romantic at heart, there are many small quiet beaches to relax and bask in the shimmering sunlight. You might even have a sea lion join you while you catch some rays. Don't worry, they'll keep to a small rock offshore, away from you, there's no danger.

The ferry boat ride through the San Juans Islands is remarkable. It's considered the most scenic ferry boat ride in the entire world. You have several amenities on the ferry boat, yet you can relax and absorb the grand beauty around you. For a simple relaxing treat, park you car at the ferry dock in Anacortes, walk on the boat, and presto you're in another dimension. The San Juans will draw you into them, it's exciting.

Getting to the San Juan Islands by airplane offers a speedy trip, especially if time is a factor or you want to view the scenic wonders from above. San Juan, Orcas and Lopez Islands have small airports. You can catch a flight from the Seattle area and put yourself right into the San Juan Islands. Even if you're not planning on spending over-night, you can still enjoy a romantic dinner, take in a stroll and absorb the breath taking beauty surrounding you and return to the Seattle area, all in one-day! A scenic charter flight is the only way to go.
