Bora Bora...
The Best Romantic Beaches

Tahiti and her surrounding Islands have absolutely the most spectacular romantic beaches our planet has to offer. Nestled south of the equator in the tranquil waters surrounding the Society Islands, yielding the perfect white sand beaches, Tahiti will literally take your breath away.

Captain James cook described these lush tropical islands as "Paradise". There's little more to say, except when do you want to go and which little island do you want to visit? To help you answer this question, we'll do a little discover process of the island group.

As senior editors for Luxury Romantic Vacations, we've had the opportunity to spend three months touring about this picturesque paradise. The Island of Tahiti is the largest of the Society Islands and most populated. Due to its population and size, Tahiti has the many amenities including a city to tour about, Papeete.

Papeete has just about everything you can think of, movies, exquisite restaurants, numerous resort style lodging, International Airport, and a host of outdoor adventure activities. You can literally spends days exploring Papeete but if you want to spend quality time at the beach, you'll want to check out the white sand beaches on the west part of Tahiti. Just south of Papeete and the International Airport are some nice beaches. This is the same location that the resorts are located. They are located there for a reason, easy access to the airport and the nice romantic beaches.

The Island of Tahiti is definitely a tropical paradise, however, departing the main island for some adventures to the surrounding islands is truly remarkable. For example, Bora Bora, is one of our top picks within the romantic beaches category. It's remote, away from the populated main island of Tahiti and it's seclusion offers impeccable beaches. Tahiti, on the other hand, has nice beaches too but sometimes seaweed drifts into the lagoon area, making the underwater tropical jungle an unpleasant surprise.

If you're searching for the best romantic beaches head on over to Bora Bora. It's an easy, quick flight from Papeete. Upon your arrival in Bora Bora you'll notice the small island atmosphere. But, don't let that fool you, there's lots to participate in on this little island.

Beaches...

By far the beaches are a natural beauty that will mesmerize you. The waterfront hotels offer superb access to the beautiful romantic beaches. We experienced that the waters are relatively shallow for some distance. If you have access to a boat, and most hotels offer this amenity, you can swiftly get out towards the reef for some wonderful snorkeling. We usually swam out towards the reef for some snorkeling activity. It made for a day of total relaxation and exploration. If we planned another activity, and time was essential, we took a quick boat ride.

Obviously the water is clear and warm, however, you do need to use caution when you're away from shore. Sometimes the current can run through the area fairly swiftly. It's best to check with the locals regarding the currents on any beach area. Regarding sharks, you really don't have to worry about sharks. From all the people we talked with, there's no shark activity in the lagoon area. But, ask the locals for updated information.

Island Fun...

Bora Bora's romantic beaches come also with lots of fun-filled activities; surfing, windsurfing, horseback riding, fishing, jet skiing, water-skiing, kite surfing and of course laying on the soft, gorgeous white sand beaches. Don't worry about planning ahead for things to do. Bora Bora is island life, a life of total relaxation. You can plan as you go.

We've run across couples who planned their itinerary almost to the minute and missed out on the most important aspect of the romantic beaches that Bora Bora has to display. They were too busy to relax and enjoy the beauty and each other. You'll have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do, take it all in stride.

For those who like to shop, Bora Bora has shopping too. If you missed out in Papeete, you can fulfill your desires here on Bora Bora.

Where to Stay...

There are several choices of accommodations to choose from the luxury to the mid range. Obviously with the higher priced accommodations you'd expect a higher level of service and accommodations. Without knowing you exact needs we ask you to check out the hotel listing above in the Romantic Vacation Resources section and/or our Travel Network for romantic beaches flights/accommodations.

We'd like to hear from you regarding your stay at the romantic beaches of Bora Bora.
