The South Pacific Invites You To:
A Romantic Beach Vacation

If you're willing, and want the most memorable romantic beach vacation possible, the Editors at Luxury Romantic Vacations recommend a plunge into the South Pacific.

French Polynesia, commonly known as Tahiti, is one of the most exquisite beach opportunities our planet has to offer.

French Polynesia, the surrounding islands and atolls, is located south of the equator nestled in an area of tranquil waters, colors under the sea beyond imagination and lush tropical jungles.

A romantic beach vacation on Tahiti or one of the surrounding islands, will yield secluded beaches, romantic dinners right along the water, and several water activities for your participation, scuba diving, water skiing, fishing, snorkeling, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, sailing, just to mention a few.

We've had the opportunity to spend some three months touring French Polynesia. It's no wonder why the historic Captain Cook spent countless hours touring these islands and claiming them as "Paradise". The pristine turquoise waters will beacon you to the waters edge. The colorful fish will mesmerize you. The abundant fruit on the island will literally reach out encouraging you to take a bite.

Not far from the main island of Tahiti is Bora Bora. This is the most popular vacation destination in all of French Polynesia. Imagine staying in a bungalow right over the water. You can savor in the evening's sunsets while sipping your favorite drink, this place is impeccable.

There are numerous places to stay while on the various Islands in French Polynesia. If you stay in Tahiti you may want to check out the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti. The island of Bora Bora has the luxury hotel, Hotel Bora Bora. Both of these hotels are superb. Feel free to check out the Romantic Vacation Resources above for more information.

If you're up for a little more remoteness in your romantic beach vacation head over to Tahaa, a private island resort. This private island is a small island, motu, a small coral island located in the center of a lagoon. It is so beautiful and tranquil, it'll literally blow you away. You can stay at the luxurious Le Tahaa Resort.

Off in the distance, just a few miles away from Tahaa is Bora Bora. Even though you are remote and have solitude, you are still within reach of society. On Tahaa you'll have a host of amenities to keep you as busy as you want. There's absolutely no need to rush into anything, just savor each and every moment while cherishing your romantic beach vacation.

Getting To Tahiti...

Air Tahiti Nui is the common carrier for Tahiti. Other carriers servicing Tahiti are: Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines, Air France and we may see more in the future. There are several direct flights from the U.S., France and New Zealand. For the best fares check out our Travel Network.

When Do I Go to Tahiti...

January through February is considered the "Low Season". If money has its restrictions you can often find better deals during these months. Summer begins in November on through April; therefore, the low season is at the peak of the summer months. Winter carries on through May until October.

Getting Around...

Your port of entry into French Polynesia for your romantic beach vacation, is on the Island of Tahiti. From Papeete, Tahiti, your arrival city, you can continue onto your final destination by boat or small aircraft.

If you're staying on Tahiti you can easily get around on the public transportation system, an open air "bus" called Le Truck or the RTC, large white coaches. Car rentals are also available and well as the typical taxi. We particularly enjoyed the public transportation system. It's easy to use and an easy way to get into the Tahitian culture.

What Do I Bring...

You can pack light on this romantic beach vacation. You may want to bring some garments that cover the entire body for the times when you want to refrain from too much sun exposure. The sun can be intense so make sure you bring the essentials, hat, sun glasses, appropriate sun screen and sandals that you can use while exploring the coral reefs. Coral can be very sharp, therefore, use caution around the reefs with your footing and hands.

Snorkel gear is always a handy to have on hand, even if you're apprehensive about snorkeling, bring the gear on your romantic beach vacation anyway. The gear in Tahiti can be expensive so it's always nice to have just incase. When you see the magnificent waters, you'll want to dip your head under for a peak. And while looking bring along one of the inexpensive disposable under water cameras. You can take some fabulous shots with these little cameras.

We encourage you to dive right into your romantic beach vacation in the South Pacific. Honestly, we've found it doesn't matter where you really stay while in this tropical paradise, you're constantly surrounded by the most spectacular beauty.

Check out the Vacation Resources above or our Travel Network for the best romantic beach vacation accommodations and airfares.
