Mallorca...Resources
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands. This is one's of
Spain's most visited Mediterranean islands. Visitors typically come for
three romantic reasons: sun, sand and sea.
Palma...
Palma de Mallorca, commonly referred as Palma, is the charming center piece
on the island. It's a great place to explore before ascends to one of the
beaches. Granted, the city is flooded with tourists and little souvenir
shops; however, you can break the turmoil and head off to some of the quaint
boutiques and olive-tree lined boulevards.
You'll find romance amongst this stylish city built in a Romantic era.
During the day, the city busses with activity but when the sunsets, the action
begins. Near the waterline you can find a charming outdoor restaurant
overlooking the water. It's the perfect place to gather your thoughts and
share yourself with the one you love.
If you want to throw yourself in with the locals, try out Bar Martin.
It's located at Carrer de la Santa Creu 2. Nothing fancy, just good food
with great people.
While you're making your way around Palma, tour book in hand, a great piece
of history is located right in Palma's Cathedral. Initially, the cathedral
began as a mosque in1230 and was finally completed in 1600. Nevertheless,
this is a must see when you visit Mallorca. The cathedral's history sets
the tone for where you're at, this moment in time, on the little island off the
coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea.
Getting Around...
Once you've satisfied your taste buds in Palma you can easily exit the city
by bus, train, rental car, taxi, bicycle or hike out. Most of the
island is accessible by bus. The local tourist office can give you the
latest bus destinations and schedules. The Consell de Mallorca's tourist
office, 941-71-22-16, covers info around the entire island.
Traveling by train is a popular and scenic train ride opportunity.
The railway was built in 1912, replacing the outdated stagecoach. There
are two rail lines, one heading to the northwest coast and the other inland.
Take at least one train excursion, if possible do both. The ride to the
northwest coast is the most popular and offers some scenic vistas.
By far the best way to get around Mallorca is by rental car or bicycle,
yes bicycle. It's becoming more and more popular to tour the island via
bicycle. You can rent a bicycle at Royal Rent. Car rentals are also
popular and give you the freedom for easy island travel. Most of the car
rental agencies are located in Palma. The most expensive are located at or
very near the airport. The further away for the airport, the less
expensive you'll find car rentals. Not too far from the airport is Hasso,
they seem to offer one of the best deals. As of this publication, their
number is 971-26-02-19.
You can also get around the island by taxi. Be prepared to pay,
they are not cheap. It's ok to hop a cab for a short trip but utilizing a
taxi for an excursion is expensive. There are some boat excursions
that offer some scenic tours with loads of information about the island.
The tourist office will give you the most credible boat companies to choose
from.
Places to Stay...
Mallorca has grown into a host of resorts lining the coastal beaches.
Most of the fine beaches along the east are covered with resorts. It looks
like a typical concrete jungle located anywhere on the planet. If you're

it's simply supply and demand that governs the price.
